Did You Learn From Your Mistakes?
Everyone makes mistakes, the question is whether we truly learn from them. I personally feel that there is a great deal to be learnt from mistakes, provided it does not crush your spirit.
Things happen in life so that we become stronger and wiser from our mistakes. In fact, in the last 2 years, Deep Impact’s growth as a Impactful Teambuilding company were a result of mistakes that we made and learnt from. It was the commitment of not making the same mistakes twice that helped us to become much better.
It is also important to learn from other people’s mistakes, so that we do not need to pay the price they have paid for it.
Listen to Starbucks founder and CEO, Howard Schultz on why Starbucks can command a premium for their coffee, why you need to celebrate your mistakes and Starbuck’s philosophy.

Hi Kenneth
Thank you for sharing this great article and video.
I love it when he said… “It’s one thing to learn from your mistakes, but sometimes we have to celebrate them. One thing I do not want to do at Starbucks is to not have the kind of failure where we start discouraging creativity and entrepreneurship… our success is not an entitlement, it has to be earned.”
I used to beat myself up a lot and was my own worst critique till learned to not only learn from my mistakes, but celebrate them and enjoy the process. That has made a big difference in my life. Totally agree that success is earned, as with trust and respect. It takes time to build but can disappear in just a blink of an eye.
Keep ‘em coming Kenneth
and I acknowledge you for your passion in sharing and making a difference in this world.
Jacy, Great to know that you have learnt to celebrate your mistakes. We can be our own worst critique at times, but it takes a lot of courage to stand up and accept them into our lives.
After watching a couple of videos by Howard Schultz, he mentions in all his videos that Success is not an entitlement, but must be earned. It is really something that echoes through my mind. Even if I am successful today, it does not guarantee that I will be successful tomorrow.
Some school of thought believe that there’s no such thing as a mistake. It’s merely an experience. And according to Neale Walsch (author of the Conversations with God series), such experiences serve to contribute to one’s development one way or the other, some faster and others slower. ‘Mistakes’ are labels that one choose to paste on actions/situations which do not suit one’s temperament at that point in time. But then temperament and/or situations change under a different set of circumstance. And what was earlier seen as a mistake, may now be considered in a more favourable light. It’s thus better to be aware at all times.
