When I read this, it brought to mind an internal cross functional team workshop I had to attend a few weeks back. Overall I thought the content & case study was good, and if everyone in the company works this way, it would be fantastic.

But its probably not going to happen because:

1. Old-culture (or jaded) staff resistence to change. This was quite evident from the way these staff communicated during the sessions with sarcasm and old mindsets.

2. Staff opened to change are frustrated because of #1

3. One of the key points was "keep the team's focus on the goal", but
- KPIs not aligned to cross functional projects
- Mgt does not give goal specifics and/or keep changing the goals without adjusting timeline.

4. Another key point was "listening to others and getting feedback"
- Problem - Mgt does not listen nor receptive to feedback.

Like you mentioned, "people resume their own set of behaviour after they go back to work the following day. This is because issues are not addressed and mindset is not changed."
